We offer restringing and redesign services to bring them beautifully up to date. And did you know pearls come in hues from white and pink to black, gold, and even green? Visit us to explore our stunning pearl collection.

How To Take Care Of Real Pearls: Guide

Fun Fact about Pearls: Not only is pearl the birthstone for June (June also has Alexandrite, a variety of chrysoberyl, and moonstone, a variety of feldspar) but these gems are organic and have a fascinating formation story: made of calcium carbonate, water and conchiolin they start when an irritant enters the mollusc and as a defensive protection mechanism the pearl starts secreting layers and layers of aragonite-calcite platelets to coat the irritant and trap it (cultured pearls have a small bead or piece of pearl shell inserted by human intervention). We call this coating ‘nacre' and it eventually becomes the pearl. White, pink, green, black, purple, gold, silver-grey, they take their base colour from the inner lip of the mollusc or oyster shell. Depending on the temperature of the waters, whether salt or fresh water and the food supply the pearls’ lustres and sizes will vary making these a fascinating and unique organic gem!

💙 Something Blue

Traditionally a symbol of love, purity, and fidelity, a touch of blue is a must. Some ladies go for blue shoes, a blue bow in the bouquet or a blue garter hidden under their dresses but why not choose sapphire or aquamarine jewellery that will last and can be worn time and time again? Choose from royal or teal sapphires, topaz, or aquamarine in everything from subtle pendants to hidden gemstone details in the backs of rings, bangles or a little blue gemstone charm dangling from a bracelet. Why not create a secret blue gem disc near your clasp or go bold with a white to blue ombré tennis bracelet? A lasting memory in a meaningful stone.

Meet our Sales Consultants:

Most of you have met Mel and admired all her sparkly jewellery she wears. From rings, bangles, bracelets, earrings and pendants Mel adores jewellery! Get to know our ‘Gem-Lady’ Mel in this Q&A interview:

1. How long have you been in jewellery and how did you get into it?

I’ve been in jewellery for over 30 years, the only breaks were to have my children. My love of the gems started very young, with my very glamorous grandmother who had many rings that I was allowed to clean and try on.

2. What is your favourite part of your job?

My favourite part of the job, other than the amazing team i work with, is working on a bespoke commission. Designing with a client, watching it go around the building to all the different departments we have, for example the CAD designers, goldsmiths, diamond setters, then seeing the end result and the happiness on their faces when they see what we have created for them.

3. What has been your most memorable or favourite experience/sale/piece of jewellery?

My favourite item that I have sold, was a bespoke platinum emerald cut diamond line bracelet—it was so beautiful!

4. What is your favourite metal and favourite gemstone and why?
My favourite metal is platinum, and I'm enjoying the resurgence of 2-colour gold especially platinum and yellow gold mixture. The gemstones i adore are Aquamarine, pale blue, and Sapphire the gorgeous mid blue royal colour.

5. Name a piece of jewellery someone should absolutely own?

An eternity ring would be something I think everyone can aspire to, matching to enhance their existing wedding jewellery or a lovely right hand ring.
