Hello April
April is nearly here—and it’s our birthday month!
Aside from losing an hour to the clocks going forward this weekend, we’re looking forward to longer, lighter evenings and not getting up in the dark. Spring is in the air and Lent is almost over! With Easter approaching, it’s the perfect time to celebrate the season with loved ones indulging in those hot cross buns, simnel cake and chocolate eggs after a delicious lamb roast. We can’t wait!
Opening Times over Easter:
Easter Saturday open as usual 09:30-16:00
Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday: Closed
On the jewellery front, here at Timothy Roe, we’ve been busy creating, repairing, and selling beautiful jewellery for weddings, engagements, birthdays and anniversaries. Our ‘Bud and Bloom’ collection has been a hit, with the peridot pendant made for the Aldingbourne Trust Flower Ball (featured in last month’s issue) selling within days of being displayed in the window! If you missed it— you can browse the collection here.
Trends: Looking at jewellery trends—Spring blends soft pastels with bold statement pieces. From blush peach gemstones and soft teal greens to sculptural silver earrings and stacked rings, this season is all about expressing individuality with effortless style. In short, mix it up and wear what inspires you! Whether it’s a simple pair of diamond studs, a meaningful pendant, or a piece with vibrant colours, it is time to start thinking about events and occasions ahead and the jewellery you might like to wear as the summer months start to approach.
As April’s birthstone, diamonds are in the spotlight this month and scintillating brighter than ever! The Natural Diamond Council (NDC) is introducing World Diamond Day on 8 April 2026, a global movement that brings people together through the stories behind natural diamonds. It is a chance to see natural diamonds through the lens of real people and real stories shared around the world in real time. People are being encouraged to share their story online on the 8th April using the hashtags #WorldDiamondDay and #NaturalDiamonds so expect diamonds all over your instagram feeds if you follow jewellers! Stories can take many forms:
Personal moments such as engagements, anniversaries, and heirlooms
The journey of a diamond from origin to artistry
Positive impact in communities, education, and conservation
Design, craftsmanship, and finished creations.
World Diamond Day is a collective moment, not a campaign.
This month, we’re seeing diamonds in delicate floral settings, layered necklaces with coloured stones, and set in mixed metals—bringing fresh, modern energy to a timeless favourite. Diamonds also took centre stage at the Oscars last month, confirming their enduring allure. You can’t go wrong with having timeless diamonds in your collection.
Gold News: You may have noticed subtle market shifts, with gold prices dipping slightly due to rising oil costs, the Iran/Israel conflict, and the US holding interest rates. Gold and silver saw its sharpest one-day drop since 1983, followed by fluctuations. This is a great opportunity to explore timeless, considered pieces and have some bespoke jewellery made either remodelling existing jewellery or taking advantage of the lower gold prices and buying new.
April also brings the iconic Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race which is always fun to watch. Inspired by their signature colours, we’re loving rich navy sapphires and deep London blue topaz, alongside lighter shades like aquamarine and Swiss blue topaz—a classic, versatile palette that never goes out of style.
Celebrating 30 Years
This April marks our 30th Anniversary, and we have something very special planned! You may have seen our feature in Sussex Living, Sussex Local, or online on Sussex World amongst the other local newspapers, where we shared insights from Tim about his journey, successes, and vision.
