Hallmarking & The Chichester Cross Stamp

untitled.111.jpg

Hallmarking is one of the world’s oldest consumer protections and it ensures the quality of precious metals used in a piece of jewellery. It dates back to 1238 during the role of Henry III. Timothy Roe Fine Jewellery has the registered TR initials together with the exclusive use of the Chichester Cross mark at all three English Assay Offices.

The use of these, together with the mark of the assay office where it was stamped, the precious metal used and its fineness and also the date letter, all signify the tradition, quality and pride we have in the ancient craft of the goldsmith and the jewellery that we make, here in Chichester.
