Jewellery Design & Hand Drawn Sketches
Every piece of jewellery we make at Timothy Roe starts with the design process.
This is usually our first step. You know you want a beautiful piece of jewellery made, you know what precious metal and gemstone you want to use, but what sort of design would you like?
Our customers usually have a rough idea about what they want. If that’s you, let our designers Amba and Rowena visualise your idea with jewellery design sketches. Based on your original idea, and using basic tools such as paper and pencils, they will create 7 or 8 different designs based on your original idea. These can then be emailed to you for your approval.
Once you have approved a design we move on to the next stage of the process; Computer Aided Design. This translates the sketch into a virtual image, which can also be emailed to you for approval. If this is approved, we use 2 rapid prototyping machines to create a print of the design in wax. This is called Computer Aided Manufacture and will produce an exact scale model of the complete CAD design. The wax is then cleaned and is ready for casting, and can be viewed in the workshop.
