Computer Aided Design
With most jewellers outsourcing their computer aided design to bureau’s in London and Birmingham, we are here to buck the trend as we carry out all our CAD work in-house. Timothy Roe himself, is an award-winning Computer Aided Designer - awarded first place for two years running in the 3design International Competition.
Many assume there is less skill involved with CAD, however it really does require a great amount of knowledge and experience, not just in operating a computer program, but making jewellery on the work bench the traditional way - this skill, knowledge and experience is something we are proud to have in abundance.
This is all well and good, but what does CAD mean for you if you are having a piece of jewellery made up?
It offers the chance to have your design made in 3D, for it to be viewed from all angles and even a digitally rendered image or video of what the finished article will look like sent in an email, for your approval. If you would like something changed it is not a problem at all, we can tweak the design and send another image.
This all done with out the expense of actually making the jewellery in precious metal. Before our use of CAD, if a ring was made up, it was much more difficult to make adjustments to it!
Once you have an approved a computer aided design, we use Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM) to make an exact wax model. Find out more about the next step here.
